Kick-off Meeting of the Project: the partners have met in Nicosia to define a common strategy and
the operational plan with the roles for each partner. The first On Site Inspection at Pournara Camp
has taken place to meet the officers in order to coordinate activities with the refugees. At the
same time, a meeting at Asylum Seekers Office at Ministry of Interiors was organized in order to
inform properly the Director and to pave the ground for any necessary coordination, also in view
of the follow-up actvities after the life-cycle of the project.

April-May 2024

During April and May the Data Collection has been implemented within Pournara Camp (both the
quantitative part through the questionnaire and the qualitative part throogh the focus group).
Meantime, Talento Academy through the founder Marios Argyru and his team of instructors, has
implemented the first preparatory interventions in the Pournara Camp.
The inclusion of Kofinou Camp (permanent camp for one year or more) has been decided in order
to ensure contiuity to the interventions after the first pahse of recption (beween two weeks and
three months).

First systemic intervention of sport activities at Pournara Camp, trhough football and volleyball.
Contemporarily the On Site Inspection at Kofinou Camp has taken place in order to coordinate
future activities, by meeting the director and the officers of UNCHR and EUAA.

Seminar at CSO Cyprus Sport Organization (governmental entity for sport policy)
A hybrid seminar has taken place in order to ensure a targeted dissemination of the outputs and
outcomes of the project, targeting selected interlocutors at European level, in view of future
possible partnerships and of the replicability of the initiative in other endeavours.

1st/2nd November

1st/2nd November, Interventions and Exhibitions at Kofinou Camp and at at Pournara Camp.
Football Freestylists Anastasia Bagaglini (Italy), Red Bull Street Style Champion 2023 and Vice
World Champion 2024 European Championship 2019, and Daria Rebbert (Germany), have
performed two exhibitions in both camps. After the performances, both athletes have tutored the
refugees in order to introduce them to the football freestyle techniques.
In the Pournara Camp also table tennis activities for females have been conducted.
A permanent table tennis table has been located, with the related racktes.
Contemporarily, the Leaflet with the Guidelines to utilize sport to develop soft skills for the labour
market has been distributed to camp officers and to refugees at large.

Public Event at Eleftheria Square
In the main square of Nicosia, under the patronage of the Municipality of Nicosia and with the
personal attendance of the Mayor of Nicosia, a public event addressed to all citizend has taken
place in order to disseminate the outcomes of the Building Futures initiative, and to consolidate its
follow-up phase:
